He’s back: Trevor Story homers again, makes history
The magical rookie season of Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story continued Monday night when he hit the go-ahead homer in a tied game against the Cincinnati Reds. His solo shot came with two outs in the eighth inning, and even though the Rockies only needed that one run to win the game, it opened the door to a whole bunch of other runs. After Story homered, a single and a walk brought up Ben Paulsen, who hit a three-run jack and turned a close win for the Rockies into a decisive victory.
Story has cooled off a bit since hitting seven homers in his first six games. In the following six games, he hit a grand total of zero, and last night’s was his first in over a week. Considering his torrid pace, he had to slow down sometime. And as Chris Cwik said yesterday in his great breakdown of Story’s incredible start, that’s not a knock on him or his talent. There’s just no way he could sustain that kind of performance.
