The Mavericks interrupted Russell Westbrook’s pregame dance party
All season long, superstar Russell Westbrook and rookie Cameron Payne have entertained Oklahoma City Thunder fans and non-partisan observers alike with their pregame dancing ritual. (Oh, that’s right — pardon me, I’m using the generic term rather than the brand name, which is like saying adhesive bandages instead of Band-Aids. I meant “Swagdaddies.” They entertain fans with Swagdaddies.) It’s been an extra bit of fun tone-setting nonsense to get both the veteran point guard and his freshman understudy hyped up and locked in for the evening’s game, one in which the general approach is the same but the specific movements never are; Westbrook and Payne, they say, thrive on spontaneity.

Well, before Monday’s Game 2 of the Thunder’s first-round playoff series, Dallas Mavericks forwards Justin Anderson and Charlie Villanueva decided to get in on the ad-libbing. I guess they don’t much like to dance, though; they just stood there. And you’re not going to believe this, but Russ has no patience for dudes who ain’t dancing — especially when they’re trying to waste his flavor.

Evidently, the Mavericks feel like Oklahoma City did quite enough dancing on them in Saturday’s Game 1 annihilation. It remains to be seen just how successful their attempts to Lithgow-in-“Footloose” the Thunder are in Monday’s Game 2, but I must say, I admire their bravery and boldness. I damn sure wouldn’t want to see what would happen when Russell Westbrook got mad at me for getting in the way of him dabbing and hitting dem folks. (Mostly, I guess, I’d want to avoid being dem folks.)
