You’ll never see a behind-the-back bunt like this in MLB
We’re used to seeing trick shots in basketball and trick plays in football, but this is a pretty stunning mix of both on a softball field.

During a recent game, this softball player decided she wanted to go behind-the-back with a bunt attempt, and she actually pulled it off, executing a perfectly placed single down the third base line.
Woah!
The New York Daily News identifies the bunter as a high-schooler named Sarah Rowley. While they’re not entirely sure where this took place or the exact league, we can identify that it’s fast-pitch softball. We can also tell you this wouldn’t exactly be easy to execute in a slow-pitch softball game or even while soft tossing a softball in your backyard.
As for why she decided to go behind-the-back, we don’t know the answer there either. Perhaps she was showing off to some degree, or perhaps she just thought she’d catch the defense offguard. Either way, if you can pull it off, then by all means go for it.

Just don’t expect to see something like this find its way to MLB. Oh, sure, some guys might give it a shot in batting practice. But when those are live 95-mph fastballs and 85-mph sliders coming down the barrel during the games, it’s best to keep it basic.
