Jamie Benn flashes smile for photog after drawing penalty (Photo)
When you’re a photographer tasked with catching the best snapshots of a hockey game, you’ve got to be ready; you never know when an opportunity will fall into your lap.
Or, in Tom Pennington’s case, when an opportunity will glide right into your sightline.
In the first period of Saturday’s Game 2 between the Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild, Stars captain Jamie Benn drew a tripping penalty on Ryan Suter. The trip took Benn nto the corner boards where Pennington, a Getty Images photog, was positioned.
With the play blown dead, Benn took his time to get up, catching his breath and flashing a smile for a picture.

Benn would later score a goal as the Stars took a 2-0 series lead with a 2-1 victory.
This is a good reminder for all hockey players: The photographers are everywhere. You never know when you’ll need to be ready for your closeup.
