Braves outfielder Hector Olivera was arrested overnight following a dispute he had with a woman. Below is what a local news affiliate (and remember, the Braves are in Washington, D.C. for a four-game series) reported about the situation:
Police sources say the female victim called 911 from the Ritz Carlton in Pentagon City at 6:51 Wednesday morning saying she had been assaulted. Police say the victim had bruises and was transported to Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington. Olivera was at the hotel and taken into police custody.
The report also states Olivera hasn’t been charged with anything yet, though that could change in a hurry. Whether any charges are pursued or not, Olivera is certain to be investigated by the commissioner’s office. Rob Manfred has already suspended Yankees reliever Aroldis Chapman 30 games for his involvement in a domestic dispute case, while Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes is awaiting his punishment following similarily awful allegations.
