Not exactly a hack that calls to mind his hitting coach, but yes indeed, Ichiro has now passed Marlins hitting coach Barry Bonds on the all-time hits list. After Tuesday’s knock, Ichiro is now alone in 33rd place. Obviously, he’s closing in on 3,000 career hits in MLB in this, his age-42 season. That’s of course in addition to the 1,278 hits he racked up in his native Japan.
As for home runs, Bonds still has a safe lead over Ichiro, at least for now: 762 to 113.
