Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For Draft Kings 4/12/16 – SportsBlog.com (blog)

Noah Syndergaard was a no brainer when I was selecting my pitching for my Draft Kings lineup for April 12th.

P- Noah Syndergaard (vs. Miami Marlins): $10,400. Syndergaard is coming off a very impressive 2016 debut where he went 6 innings, giving up 3 hits, 9 strikeouts, 0 runs, and a win versus the reigning World Series Champs, the Kansas City Royals. Today will be his first appearance against the Miami Marlins, which I think will bode in his favor considering he has some of the nastiest stuff in the big leagues and the Marlins have never seen it before. Even if he does get hit around, his strikeout potential will help gain tons of points.
P- Hector Santiago (vs. Oakland A’s): $6,900. I can’t say I’m super excited about this pick, but the pitching match ups for 4/12 are nothing to get excited about. Santiago seemed to be the best value to be able to spread out my money elsewhere. He has showed some decent success against the A’s in his career posting a .266 opposing batting average, 3.14 ERA, and a 8.5 K/9 rate. The Athletics offense is nothing special, so I’m hoping Santiago can limit the damage and put up a decent strikeout rate.
C- Chris Iannetta (vs. Derek Holland): $3,200. Iannetta has showed a good bit of success against Holland throughout his career. He has 19 at bats against Holland, hitting .368, with 1 home run, 4 RBI’s, and a .435 OBP. Holland has struggled against the entire Seattle lineup, so I believe Iannetta will get a lot of run production opportunities while Holland is in the game.
1B- Freddie Freeman (vs. Gio Gonzalez): $3,900. Freeman has really struggled at the start of 2016, but this has driven down his price and makes him a bargain. Not only is he a bargain when it comes to his price, but he is a bargain when you look at his career numbers versus Gio Gonzalez. In 29 at bats against Gonzalez, he is hitting .310 with 2 home runs, 10 RBI’s, and a .353 OBP. He has also had a very successful career while hitting at Nationals Park (.335 BA, 2 home runs, .403 OBP in 44 games).
2B- Robinson Cano (vs. Derek Holland): $4,200. As mentioned above while talking about Iannetta, Holland has really struggled against the Mariners lineup, and Cano is the leading force. In 37 career at bats against Holland, Cano is hitting a whopping .405 with 2 home runs, 9 RBI’s, and a .436 OBP. Cano is off to an incredibly hot start in 2016 and this seems to be a must start against Holland.
3B- Daniel Murphy (vs. Jhoulys Chacin): $4,200. Murphy has been on an absolute tear since the start of 2016. He is hitting .462 with 1 home run, 5 RBI’s, 2 runs, and a .611 OBP. He only has 9 at bats against Chacin, but he is hitting .333 against him. Top 3B options such as Machado, Arenado, and Donaldson don’t have great splits against their opponents, which led me to choosing Murphy.
SS- Carlos Correa (vs. Kris Medlen): $4,800. Back to back days I have chosen Correa and I didn’t even hesitate. Correa is the top shortstop option in daily fantasy and he was a no brainer when I had plenty of spare cash left over. He provides great power, speed, and the ability to get on base that helps contribute to your daily fantasy victory.
OF- Bryce Harper (vs. Jhoulys Chacin): $5,200. Bryce Harper doesn’t have any at bats against Chacin in his career, but Harper is just like Correa when it comes to daily fantasy production. He is currently averaging about 15 points a game, which is incredibly elite. He is a tough price to pay, but if you take a look at this lineup, I have plenty of money to spend on an elite guy like Harper.
OF- Gerado Parra (vs. Jeff Samardzija): $3,900. Parra has struggled at the start of 2016, but I think this will be the game to end his slump. Parra will be playing at Coors field against a pitcher that he has had tons of success against. In 15 at bats against Jeff Samardzija, he is hitting .400 with 1 home run, 2 RBI’s, and a .471 OBP. If you combine these splits with the home park factors, I think Parra is a great bargain start for daily fantasy on April 12th.
OF- Jon Jay (vs. Charlie Morton): $2,900. Jon Jay is my bargain buy for today. At only $2,900, he opens up my roster to spend big elsewhere. Luckily, Jay has had plenty of success against opposing pitcher Charlie Morton. In 22 at bats, he is hitting .409 with 3 RBI’s, 2 doubles, and a .552 OBP. It is tough to turn down Jay at that price with those kind of splits. He has had success at the start of 2016 while hitting leadoff for the Padres, so look for Jay to get on base early and often.
Remaining Salary: $400. I hate having this much in remaining salary, but I feel very confident with the splits I chose. Typically I will use this money to upgrade my pitching, but I just don’t see any upgrade that are worth the extra cash. I considered Robbie Erlin, but I’m going to stick with my gut and take Santiago.
Other Great Starts: Nelson Cruz, Justin Upton, Jeff Francoeur, Robbie Erlin, and Ryan Zimmerman
Avoid: Josh Donaldson, Carlos Gonzalez, Hunter Pence, Jose Bautista, and Derek Holland
