Warriors to limit players' minutes; Bogut to sit
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Saturday the team will monitor players’ minutes against the Memphis Grizzlies, saying the Warriors will “try to win” but “not at the expense of wearing out people.”
Kerr said center Andrew Bogut will rest Saturday night against the Grizzlies, while the rest of the team will be capped at 38 minutes regardless of the score of the game.
“The game is certainly not more important than our health,” Kerr said. “Our health is the main thing going into next weekend. We’re going to overrun anybody with minutes. We’re probably going to play a lot of people.”
The Warriors (70-9) need to win all three of their final regular-season games — two against the Grizzlies, and one against the San Antonio Spurs — to break the Chicago Bulls‘ all-time record of 72 wins in a single season.
Kerr said Bogut would play Sunday against the Spurs. He said the possibility of resting veterans Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston was discussed, but both players said they wanted to play.
