The wind blew Billy Horschel’s ball in the water at the Masters
Billy Horschel was getting ready to read his putt for eagle on the the par-5 15th when … a gust of wind blew his ball off the green and into the water Saturday at the Masters.
Horschel had replaced his ball marker on the green when he noticed the wind had blown his ball and caused it to move. Under the Rules of Golf, a player cannot stop their ball, once replaced without a marker, on the green once the wind starts it moving. So, Horschel watched in dismay as the ball rolled off the front of the green, down the false front and into the water hazard. The Florida Gator had to take a penalty stroke for finding the hazard.
But rather than replace his ball near where it started, 13 feet from the pin, he had to take a drop on the far left side of the green, some 90 feet from the pin.
The 2014 FedEx Cup champion went from possible eagle to bogey 6.
