For the commentators who will be gracing our TV sets this weekend for another gameweek of Premier League soccer, the big news is that Ian Darke will be announcing the West Ham against Arsenal game. He’ll be alongside Danny Mills on the broadcast for BT Sport, which NBCSN has generously agreed to use instead of the international feed.
That means that Darke will continue to do what he does best — announcing games for BT Sport. It doesn’t mean he’ll be joining NBC Sports anytime in the near future!
Saturday at 10 a.m. ET, NBCSN presents a special Relegation Breakaway as Aston Villa fight to avoid relegation, featuring RedZone-like live look-ins on the best action from 20th-place Aston Villa v. Bournemouth, and Crystal Palace v. 17th-place Norwich City. Aston Villa will be guaranteed relegation this season if Norwich City better their result on Saturday (Norwich City win and Aston Villa draw, or Norwich City draw and Aston Villa lose).
NBC Sports Group’s Premier League Breakaway program presents the most compelling action in real time and on replay, so viewers experience every twist and turn as Aston Villa fights for Premier League safety, and Norwich City look to further distance themselves from 18th-place, the final relegation position. Arlo White will guide the program as it cuts between matches to follow the most important stories with minimal interruption.
USA Network will present Southampton v. Newcastle Saturday at 10 a.m. ET, and all matches in the 10 a.m. ET window (including Relegation Breakaway games) will be available in their entirety via live stream on NBC Sports Live Extra and on Premier League Extra Time, a bonus television package available to MVPDs at no extra cost for customers who receive NBCSN. Relegation Breakaway will also be available on NBC Sports Live Extra.
Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET, NBC and NBC UNIVERSO present coverage of fourth-place Manchester City v. West Bromwich Albion. Manchester City come off a 4-0 win at Bournemouth on Saturday, and are in a close competition with rivals fifth-place Manchester United for the fourth and final Champions League position this season. Only one point separates the Manchester teams.
Peter Drury calls the match joined by analyst Graeme Le Saux at the Etihad Stadium.
Coverage this Sunday, April 10, begins at 7:30 a.m. ET with Premier League Live on NBCSN, followed by first-place Leicester City v. Sunderland at 8:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN and NBC UNIVERSO. Leicester City, which narrowly avoided relegation last season, will become this season’s champions if they win four of their last six matches.
Also aiming for the title are second-place Tottenham, which host fifth-place Manchester United Sunday at 11 a.m. ET on NBCSN & TELEMUNDO. Premier League-leading scorer Harry Kane (22 goals) managed to score the equalizing goal for Tottenham in a 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Sunday, but Spurs still trail the Foxes by 7 points.
Steve Bower calls the match, joined by Le Saux at White Hart Lane.
Sunday’s Liverpool v. Stoke City match at 11 a.m. ET will be available on NBC Sports Live Extra and on Premier League Extra Time.
Sunday at 2 p.m. ET NBCSN presents an encore presentation of Premier League Download: The Leicester City Story, which uses fan interviews, studio reactions and announcer calls to chronicle Leicester City’s improbable run at the 2015-16 Premier League title.
Live match coverage concludes with a mid-week match between Crystal Palace and Everton on Wednesday, April 13, at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
This weekend, White will be joined by former Major League Soccer and U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Kyle Martino and former Jamaica National Team player Robbie Earle for Premier League Live pre- and post-match shows.
