Texas A&M WR Speedy Noil suspended for season opener
Texas A&M will be without one of its top wideouts for the season opener.
Head coach Kevin Sumlin announced Thursday that Speedy Noil will not play when the Aggies take on UCLA on Sept. 3. Noil was suspended for the Music City Bowl at the end of last season, and Sumlin told reporters that the suspension will roll over into Week 1.

While Noil has shown flashes on the field, he has also run into issues off the field. He was suspended twice last season for team rule violations, including the aforementioned bowl game suspension. He also served a team suspension last spring before being reinstated in May.

Just last week, Noil was arrested for driving without a license after being pulled over because of a faulty brake light. He was released from custody a short time later after posting bond and played in the Aggies’ scrimmage that night.
In nine games last season, Noil had 21 catches for 226 yards and two touchdowns. That was quite the drop from his true freshman campaign when he caught 46 passes for 583 yards and five scores.
Noil was a five-star recruit in the 2014 class.
