TOP STORY: Toure to shun Inter, find new Prem club
Yaya Toure is set to stun Manchester City by turning down a move to Inter Milan and attempting to find another Premier League club, according to the Mirror.
The Ivorian powerhouse’s time at the Etihad looks to be up with the arrival of Pep Guardiola this summer and the 32-year-old could knock back the Nerazzurri’s three-year, £100,000-per-week offer.
The former Barcelona player is comfortable with life in England, but could find it tough to find another club willing to match his £220,000-per-week wages, although clubs from China have already made their move and could be able to match his existing wages.
City join Chelsea and United in battle for Pjanic
Manchester City are ready to blow Chelsea and Manchester United out of the water in hope of signing Roma star Miralem Pjanic, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Giallorossi are adamant that the Bosnian will not leave the Eternal City for less than £31 million, with Pep Guardiola now gunning for the playmaker.
New Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is also keen on Pjanic, but without Champions League football, it could be City who now triumph in the race for the 26-year-old.
Conte makes secret trip to Chelsea training
Antonio Conte has already made a secret trip to Cobham in order to ascertain whether some of Chelsea’s biggest stars will commit to the new revolution at Stamford Bridge, according to the Mail.
The Azzurri manager wants to specifically speak with Eden Hazard, John Terry, Nemanja Matic and Diego Costa, while Thibaut Courtois was previously linked with a move away but is now set to stay for the beginning of the Conte era.
Without Champions League football and coming off the back of a dismal season, the Blues risk losing some of their biggest stars with European giants Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid sniffing around.
Arsenal to raid Primeira Liga for Pereira and Carvalho
Arsenal will shop around in Portugal this summer with Arsene Wenger keen to bring in Porto’s Danilo Pereira and Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
The Gunners have tracked Carvalho, a dynamic centre-midfielder, since the 2015 U21 European Championships, but a serious injury to the Portugal international prevented any progress to the deal, which means they must now meet the 23-year-old’s £35m buy-out.
Porto’s Pereira is another target with former Gunner Luis Boa Morte making a trip to Portugal this week for a close look at the 24-year-old, with the Dragoes likely to hold out for his £29m release clause.
Tap-ins
– Arsenal will also look to bring in a number of highly-rated young players this summer including AZ Alkmaar’s Myron Boadu, according to the Mail.
The Gunners have followed the 15-year-old for two years and hope to beat out Ajax for the forward, as well as pursue moves for Leicester’s 19-year-old Ben Chilwell and Chelsea’s 16-year-old Domingos Quina.
– Another highly talented teenager that could be set for a move to the Emirates could be AC Milan’s Manuel Locatelli, according to the Daily Star.
The 18-year-old midfielder is set to figure in the Rossoneri’s first team plans in the near future in order to ward off the Gunners.
– Tottenham will look to tie down some of their key players after their title tilt this season, according to the Standard.
Spurs will offer new deals to Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen as they try to assemble a nucleus that can help them kick on next season with Champions League qualification all but secured now.
