Report: Tiger Woods hitting full drivers in practice
Tiger Woods isn’t playing in the Masters, but he’s still making news on the eve of the year’s first men’s major.
In announcing last Friday that he wouldn’t seek a fifth green jacket this week at Augusta National, Woods said he was making progress with his game — that he is “hitting balls and training daily” — but he wasn’t particularly clear with just how much progress he’s made.
Golf World’s Tim Rosaforte reports Woods has progressed to the point where he is hitting drivers at “full speed.”
There was a bit of a false start on Woods hitting driver. Days after Woods tweeted a video of him gingerly hitting a 9-iron into a simulator in February with the caption “progressing nicely,” a similar report surfaced saying Woods had progressed to hitting driver. Woods didn’t acknowledge the veracity of that report.
While Woods isn’t in Augusta this week as a competitor (he did attend the Tuesday Champions Dinner), we at least have a bookend on when to expect his comeback. Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, said we should expect to see Woods back in action sometime in 2016.
