Waiver Wired: Wired: Top NBA Pickups Week 24
Be sure to check out last week’s column, when I hit Toney Douglas and Shelvin Mack pretty hard. I didn’t run them again this time, but it is starting to feel like this list has seen a lot of duplicates over the past few weeks as the silly shutdown season finally winds down. The numbers included here do not include Saturday’s game, as I had to write it prior to those games due to time constraints and because I like to occasionally spend time with my family. So take Saturday’s five-game slate into consideration when looking at these players. Follow me on Twitter by clicking here.

Guards
J.J. Barea Mavericks 41% owned in Yahoo! leagues – JJB has been going nuts with Deron Williams out, scoring 29 in his last game and 26 in the one prior. He’s averaging 21.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.8 3-pointers over his last five and should be ready to finish up the regular season in a big way for his new owners.

Shane Larkin Nets 19% – Larkin is still a bit hit-or-miss but will start the rest of the way and is averaging 9.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.4 steals over his last five. I like him better in DFS than in standard leagues.
Tim Frazier Pelicans 10% – Frazier had 17 points and eight dimes on Thursday and is averaging 12.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 3-pointers over his last five games. The Pelicans are packing it in and Frazier should get plenty of run over his last few games.
Seth Curry Kings 9% – Curry has blown up for 21 points in two of his last three games and the Kings are tanking, big time. Curry’s averaging 14.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.4 3-pointers over his last five games, making him a solid addition in any league. They have no reason not to play him and a bunch of regular starters should be sitting…regularly. Check back to see what he did on Saturday night.
Jordan Farmar Grizzlies 5% – The Grizzlies need him to finish off their playoff run and Farmar’s averaging 10.8 points, 3.8 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.6 3-pointers over his last five. Not a must-own player, but could be good over the last week and a half.
Jerian Grant Knicks 18% – Grant had 14 points, three boards, four assists, a block and two 3-pointers in 29 minutes on Friday. Jose Calderon appears to be done and there’s no reason Grant shouldn’t start the rest of the way. His numbers over his last five are nothing to write home about, but Friday’s game gives him some hope.
Norman Powell Raptors 6% – Powell has hit double figures in scoring in five straight games and is averaging 14.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.8 blocks and 2.6 3-pointers over his last five. The Raptors are going to rest some guys in preparation for the playoffs and Powell should continue to get his 30 minutes a night on the regular.
Austin Rivers Clippers 2% – Rivers went off for a career-high 32 points with four boards, five dimes, two steals and seven 3-pointers on Thursday, but the Clippers rested most of their studs that night. Rivers won’t do it again, but he was playing well prior to that one. If you need a guard who can hit some threes and get some steals, the coach’s son is worth a deep-league look.
