The 2016 Major League Baseball season is nigh. On Sunday, there are three games in back-to-back-to-back fashion for our viewing pleasure, and then traditional “Opening Day” comes on Monday with 12 games. Sadly and ridiculously, the Marlins and Tigers don’t open until Tuesday in Miami, but by the end of Monday night, 28 of the 30 teams will have played a game.
So we’re in for a fun few days to get things kicked off, and most fans will be able to watch a lot more baseball than just the local offering. Also, for both days here on CBS Sports, we’ll have a live blog running to keep everyone updated on all of the best action.

Here’s what is on tap in terms of nationally-televised games:
Sunday
Cardinals at Pirates, 1:05 p.m. ET, ESPN
Blue Jays at Rays, 4:05 p.m. ET, ESPN2
Mets at Royals, 8:35 p.m. ET, ESPN
Monday
Astros at Yankees, 1:00 p.m. ET, ESPN
Mariners at Rangers, 4:00 p.m. ET, ESPN
Dodgers at Padres, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN
Cubs at Angels, 10:00 p.m. ET, ESPN2
As noted by MLB in a press release, you can watch games that include at least one — and in some cases two — 2015 playoff teams all day Monday and Tuesday on national TV. It’s not quite our version of March Madness, but I could get on board with some MLB-themed viewing parties.
As for streaming online, MLB.tv subscription prices have dropped this season and carry local broadcasts for “out of market” options. Getting it on a monthly basis is an option, and there’s also a “single team” option that’s even cheaper, though you can’t live in the “market” of the team you wish to select. Displaced fans, there you go! MLB.tv always offers one free game per day as well.
Also, the MLB Extra Innings cable package has a free preview running from April 3-10 on most cable providers. You’ll be able to watch any game from anywhere over the next week. All you need to do is find the channels. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.
And finally, we have a live blog right here (yes, this exact page/URL) for the Sunday and Monday action. We’ll post highlights, photos, stats, news, all sorts of cool stuff right here throughout Sunday and Monday, so make sure you check back often.
