How you can get a free cap from MLB on opening day
Baseball season is here and we know you’re ready for the action to begin. We also suspect you’re ready to add to your collection of MLB apparel, and there will be a great opportunity to do just that on opening day.
In conjunction with its cap partner, New Era, MLB will be giving away 10,000 caps in 13 cities on Monday as part of their #CapsOn promotion. And one of those caps could be yours.

You’ve probably seen or at least heard about the #CapsOn movement. It’s been all over social media and even national TV shows like Ellen for the past few weeks. But just in case you haven’t, this is what it’s all about.
MLB and New Era want fans to celebrate the return of baseball by wearing the cap of their favorite team. If you were planning to do that already, that’s great. You can still head over to the numerous locations where hats will be given away. Those locations, by the way, will include set ups near Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and as well as 20 different university campuses, which will include Ohio State and UCLA.
Here are some of the other locations included.
Washington D.C.: Dupont Circle
New York City: Herald Square, Penn Station, Lincoln Center, Bryant Park, Grand Central
Atlanta: Midtown, Little Five Points
Philadelphia: City Hall, Reading Terminal
Boston: South Station, Kenmore Square
Houston: Midtown Park, Bagby Park, Minute Maid Park
Los Angeles: LA Live, Union Station, Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach Boardwalk
Ann Arbor, Michigan: Downtown Ann Arbor, Main Street
Chicago: Millennium Park, Union Station, Michigan Ave, Navy Pier
Kansas City: Power & Light, Union Station
Denver: Union Station, 16th Street Mall
Columbus, Ohio: Downtown Columbus, Main Street, Columbus Commons
If you’re not one of the lucky ones to get a free cap, that’s OK too. Just throw on one of your old caps and enjoy the games. But make sure to take a picture, because fans who post photos of themselves wearing a cap on opening day using #CapsOn will have the chance to win an assortment of MLB prizes.
That sounds easy enough, doesn’t it?

Unlike the 29 teams who will fall short of their ultimate goal on the field, you have nothing to lose by getting involved, wearing your cap and enjoying the action.
