Edinson Volquez begins the 2016 season by wearing the wrong cap
The Kansas City Royals have to be pumped that it’s opening night. The club not only matches up against their World Series opponents, the New York Mets, but the team also got to experience its new championship banner being hoisted at Kauffman Stadium.

That level of adrenaline would distract anyone from paying attention to minor details. It seems that may have happened with Royals starting pitcher Edinson Volquez. The 32-year-old took the field wearing the same cap he’s worn all spring. Problem is, that wasn’t the right cap!
Yep, Volquez took the field in the first inning wearing the team’s spring training camp. Was it merely a mistake, or is it possible Volquez was trying to make a fashion statement. We have to admit, the Royals caps with the crown above the logo look pretty awesome.
Someone must have talked to Volquez following the first inning, because he came out sporting the right hat in the top of the second.

And with that, everything is in order. The Royals are all wearing the same uniforms, and have a lead after taking advantage of a Mets error. It’s like the 2015 season postseason never ended.
