Notre Dame coach Mike Brey will be on injury report for Elite Eight
Notre Dame coach Mike Brey stood on the sidelines in a suit, sans tie, Friday night during his team’s victory over Wisconsin in the Sweet 16, but he looked afterward like he spent at least a few minutes in the game.
Brey was limping and required a bag of ice on his right calf after straining it in a fit of excitement in the second half.

“Trainer said I should be able to go Sunday. About the 15-minute mark I was excited and jumped up and I pulled a calf muscle,” Brey said. “Thank God it wasn’t Achilles. So little calf strain, no surgery needed, but I’m a little sore. I told the guys I’m the first one taped on Sunday.”
Brey and the Fighting Irish have their work cut out for them if they’re going to pull off an upset over No. 1 seed North Carolina and advance to the Final Four. The teams played twice this season. Notre Dame won at home 80-76, but the Tar Heels took revenge and then some in the semifinals of the ACC tournament, winning 78-47.
