Leonard exits Spurs' win with right thigh contusion
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard hobbled to the locker room in the third quarter of his team’s 112-88 win over the Miami Heat, and club officials declared him out for the remainder of the contest due to a right thigh contusion.
Leonard appeared to suffer the injury on a leg-to-leg collision with Amar’e Stoudemire with approximately 3:10 remaining before intermission.
Leonard re-entered the game to start the second half and played half of the third quarter before heading back to the locker room with 5:59 remaining as the Spurs subbed in Manu Ginobili. Leonard managed to rack up 32 points in 24 minutes, which tied a career high in scoring.
The Spurs held a 71-55 advantage when Leonard left the game.
Leonard hit 12-of-21 from the field and 3-of-7 from 3-point range during his 24 minutes of action, while contributing eight rebounds.
