Stat sheet error hits injured Nugget forward Kenneth Faried below the belt
As one of the many millions of people whose eyes were glued to the ABC tilt between the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs, I missed this on Saturday night, but as evidently, power forward Kenneth Faried has a pretty interesting reason for being sidelined for the Denver Nuggets’ Saturday matchup with the Charlotte Hornets:

Luckily, neither Charlotte Observer columnist Scott Fowler nor the folks at Mile High Sports missed it, and so we have another entry in the grand pantheon of injury-related whoopsies alongside Baron Davis’ herniated, um, phallus and a great many sportscasters saying the wrong thing is bulging.
Late on Monday, TNT color commentator Reggie Miller reheated the goof, asking someone to explain it to him. I love to serve and I’m here to help, so: it was a typo, Reg.
The staffer meant to write “low back soreness,” which has plagued Faried since the third quarter of Denver’s March 15 loss to the Orlando Magic, but goofed it in the rush of trying to get the stat sheet out ASAP. It’s a bummer — a blissful one for those of us on the other side of the mistake — but it happens. Faried also missed the Nuggets’ Monday loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, a basketball game that briefly separated discussions of LeBron James’ social media habits. As of press time, there have been no further reports of injured testicles or new developments in the way of hurt feelings, though we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
In closing: Manu Ginobili doesn’t find any of this funny and thinks we’re all real big jerks.
