Wicked wreck knocks Kyle Larson out of Auto Club 400
About a quarter of the way through the Auto Club 400, Kyle Larson veered sharply toward the infield and nailed the SAFER barrier in one of the season’s hardest hits.
“A hard hit there, one of the hardest ones of my career,” Larson said after his release from the infield care center. He noted that the left rear tire may have severed his brake line, which meant that he was unable to stop the car whatsoever. Larson was, obviously, unable to return to the race.
Scary moment, but one more reminder of just how much safety improvements in NASCAR have helped protect drivers.
