Melo out vs. Kings due to lingering migraine
NEW YORK — Carmelo Anthony will sit out of Sunday’s Knicks–Kings game due to lingering effects from migraine headaches that first surfaced on Saturday night, the team said.
Anthony began feeling headaches in the first quarter of Saturday’s loss to the Washington Wizards. Knicks interim coach Kurt Rambis said Anthony attempted to warm up prior to Sunday’s game and had “more issues dealing with the light.”
The Knicks are 0-7 in games that Anthony misses due to injury.
Arron Afflalo will start in place of Anthony against Sacramento.
With Anthony out, the Knicks are missing their leader in scoring (21.8), rebounds (8.0) and assists (4.2).
Statistical success aside, the 2015-16 campaign has been a trying one for Anthony. He’ll likely miss the playoffs for the third straight season after playing in the postseason in each of his first 10 years in the NBA.
Anthony’s status for Wednesday’s game against the Chicago Bulls is uncertain.
