Second Mississippi State NFL draft prospect is arrested in a week
What’s going on down at Mississippi State?
The Bulldogs have some decent NFL prospects for the 2016 draft, but two of their premier ones this year are not taking care of business. A week after quarterback Dak Prescott was arrested for DUI charges, teammate Chris Jones, a possible first-round pick, was arrested for driving with a suspended license on Wednesday, according to the Clarion Ledger.
Jones was charged with speeding and driving with a suspended license, and he was released on bond. His license was suspended after failing to pay a speeding ticket from December 2015.
Prescott’s charges are more serious than Jones’. In the big picture, even if Jones is guilty it would not be considered a huge deal, but now NFL teams will have to do more homework on Jones to make sure there are no other issues of concern.
Shutdown Corner projected Jones to be a first-round pick in our latest mock draft. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound defensive tackle was a five-star prospect coming out of high school, and he broke out in 2015, starting every game and making 44 tackles (7.5 for loss) and 2.5 sacks before declaring early for the draft.
Prescott and Jones could be top-50 selections in April’s draft. But now they have a few issues they’ll need to clean up before they enter the NFL.
