Charlie Blackmon still drives the same car he had in high school
elegant collection of rides. Cespedes’ choices might be a little outlandish, but most ball players drive fancy and expensive cars.
Baseball players are serious about their cars. We’ve seen plenty of that this spring, as New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes showed off his[2016 Yahoo Fantasy Baseball is open for business. Sign up now]
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon isn’t most ball players, though. While his teammates might be cruising down the mean streets of Denver in flashy whips, Blackmon prefers something more classic, according to ABC Denver’s 7Sports.
Yes, that’s a 2004 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. It’s the same car Blackmon has been driving since his senior year of high school.
The Jeep Cherokee may not be as flashy as some of the other cars in the team parking lot, but who are we to say it’s not classy?
Not all of his teammates agree with that sentiment, though. Carlos Gonzalez said he didn’t “want to touch” Blackmon’s car, and that makes us sad.
It doesn’t seem to bother Blackmon. As he goes on to explain in the video, no one else on the team has a 2004 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. It’s unique to him, and that’s worth something. He’s also made some upgrades to the vehicle, though they aren’t as flashy as a fire-breathing tail pipe.
Blackmon is loyal to his ride, even when his ride hasn’t been there for him. Back in January, Blackmon ran out of gas on the highway while driving the Cherokee. Thankfully, teammate DJ LeMahieu was there to help him out. Despite that, Blackmon still sticks with his (normally) trusty vehicle.

That’s pretty neat. Flashy cars with flame decals can be fun sometimes, but nothing beats a classic. And, if you happen to disagree, Blackmon’s enthusiasm for his Jeep is definitely endearing.
