Spring Headlines: Madison Bumgarner to miss two spring starts
San Francisco Giants ace Madison Bumgarner is expected to miss two spring training starts while recovering from two minor ailments,The most recent injury occurred when Bumgarner felt a slight tweak near the middle of his ribcage during a batting practice session earlier this week. Bumgarner underwent an MRI and no oblique damage was discovered, which is excellent news considering how unpredictable oblique recoveries can be.

Bumgarner has also been dealing with a foot issue that developed over the offseason and continued bothering him early in spring training. He was diagnosed with a neuroma, which is a thickening of nerve tissue due to stress and strain. Bumgarner has been feeling better after receiving treatment and should continue improving with rest.
The Giants have already announced Bumgarner as their opening day starter. That could be in question now with his preparation pushed back a couple weeks, but Bumgarner’s workhorse mentality will have him geared toward making that start on April 4 in Milwaukee.
