North Texas QB DaMarcus Smith no longer with program
North Texas and one its more experienced quarterbacks have parted ways.
According to the Denton Record-Chronicle, new Mean Green head coach Seth Littrell confirmed that DaMarcus Smith, who started six games in 2015, is no longer with the program.
After transferring into the program from Butler Community College, Smith split time with senior Andrew McNulty as the team’s starting quarterback. He appeared in 10 games and threw for 1,010 yards, eight touchdowns and five interceptions while completing only 46.7 percent of his passes. He was also second on the team in rushing with 427 yards and two scores.

Last season’s third string quarterback, Josh Greer, has also left the program, so the Mean Green have a huge hole at the quarterback position. Alec Morris, a graduate transfer from Alabama, seems like a logical option.
“What Alec did in high school was big,” Littrell said on national signing day. “I knew him when he came out and rewatched him a number of times. I also know some guys who have coached him at Alabama, the program he has been involved in and what he has seen and experienced with national title games. He knows what it feels like. He will be a tremendous asset for our program.”
