76ers' Covington leaves game on stretcher
PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia 76ers forward Robert Covington was taken off on a stretcher after being injured in the third quarter of Friday night’s game against the Brooklyn Nets.
The extent of the injury was unknown. Covington appeared to acknowledge the crowd as he was being carted into the locker room, and heard cheers from the fans at Wells Fargo Center following the scary scene.
Covington suffered the injury when it appeared he was inadvertently struck in the head by teammate Jerami Grant‘s sneaker.
Grant also fell to the court before gathering himself and stepping gingerly to the bench.
The 76ers said Grant was being evaluated for a concussion.
There was a length stoppage in the game as a result of the sequence.
