Obama teases Canadian Prime Minister over Stanley Cup win (Video)
President Barack Obama welcomed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his family to the White House on Thursday. The two leaders met in the Oval Office with the visit serving as a way for the two nations to come together on economic, environmental and defense issues.
There was some teasing to be had from Obama, who recently welcomed his hometown Chicago Blackhawks to the White House for another Stanley Cup celebration. It was there the team presented the Commander-in-Chief with a lifetime parking pass for United Center events.

When talking about the differences between the U.S. and Canada, Obama brought up two things that the neither side likely will ever agree upon: who has the better beer and which nation is the bigger hockey powerhouse. That last one drew a reaction from the Rose Garden crowd, with the President responding, “Where’s the Stanley Cup right now? I’m sorry, is it in my hometown with the Chicago Blackhawks?”
Trudeau did remark later that some of Canada’s top exports include top players on the Blackhawks, like Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith. But the Prime Minister missed an open mic drop opportunity.
While Obama was celebrating his hometown team as reigning NHL champions, Trudeau could have easily responded with “Yes, Mr. President, but between the two of us I’ve actually been to a hockey game.”
He apparently also forgot the two gold medals he promised to bring.
