NFL free agency 2016: Wednesday's LIVE updates, rumors and signings – NJ.com
Happy New Year, NFL fans!
As the calendar turns to March 9, it’s officially a new year for the NFL. That means reported signings, contracts and trades can all become official at 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Expect a flurry of moves, contract signings, releases and trades to commence over the next couple of days.
How will the Giants allocate all of that cap room? How many moves can Eagles general manager Howie Roseman make? Can the Jets keep Ryan Fitzpatrick from bolting in free agency? And if he does, where would the team turn for a replacement at quarterback? With stars like defensive lineman Malik Jackson (Jaguars) and offensive lineman Kelechi Osemele (Raiders) set to sign huge deals, which available name will be the biggest to come to an agreement next?
While only few teams have cap figures over $50 million, Philadelphia’s willingness to move on from mistakes and create cap room is a blueprint for some more movement today. If teams eat dollars and make trades, extra cap room could be spread out for almost the entire league to create a bidding war for the available free agents.
So many questions, so many impact free agents and only 32 teams to make it all come together starting today.
NJ Advance Media has our NFL reporters on every rumor and piece of news this week, so consider this a one-stop shop for their work, NFL news and rumors from the entire NFL landscape. If a deal goes down, you’ll hear about it in this blog!
