Mike Tomlin tells DeAngelo Williams to stop Peyton Manning rant
When the rest of the football world was congratulating Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning for retiring after a great NFL career, Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams decided it was time to break out the poop emoji on Twitter to describe Manning’s final season.
Who cares, right? Williams can have an opinion and it’s true that for most of Manning’s final season he didn’t play well. It was a, well, “creative” way to say that but it was ultimately meaningless.
Oh, but this being Twitter, the outrage followed. And in what must have been 100 messages since sending out that tweet, Williams defended his position, argued with trolls and acknowledged all of the folks who belittled him.
And this went on and on and on and on, enough so that Williams’ coach Mike Tomlin seemed to finally get tired of Williams clogging up his Twitter timeline arguing this nonsense.
Tomlin hadn’t tweeted since Nov. 17. But someone has to be there to tell you when you’re fighting an endless fight you can’t win.
