Minnesota All-Hockey Hair Team 2016 gives us top-notch salad (Video)
The signs that spring is here include the beginning of baseball Spring Training, the NCAA basketball tournament kicking off, NHL playoff races heating up and the opening of the Minnesota State High School Hockey tournment.
The legendary Minnesota tournament has given us a special souvenir every year thanks its anonymous creator: The All-Hockey Hair Team.
The 2016 edition features some pretty top notch salads, as Matt Martin of the New York Islanders and ESPN’s Barry Melrose help honor the “land of 10,000 locks.” The video includes descriptions of some of these hairstyles like, “That ‘A’ on his chest is for arugala because that is some spicy salad.”
Also, we may have found Teuvo Teravainen’s high school doppelganger:
Speaking to the Star Tribune last week, the creator explained that selecting the best lettuce in the tournament isn’t a solo project as his wife, daughter and son are also involved in the process.
“Hockey and hockey hair is sort of our Minnesota super powers,” he said. “They make us different. When you have six months of winter you might as well have something awesome to do.”
The videos have risen in popularity year after year, and in 2015 Warrior Hockey got involved as a sponsor, giving the creator $15,000, which he donated to the Hendrickson Foundation, which provides hockey opportunities to military veterans.
While there only so many winners in the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament, the kids who took the time to grow out and style their hairdos specifically for this tournament and this video are the real MVPs.
