Meet the NFL hopeful who ran a 4.19-second 40-yard dash
Has Chris Johnson’s NFL combine record fallen?
Well, maybe. Johnson’s all-time official mark of 4.28 seconds for the 40-yard dash happened at the main NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, but since then the league has added regional combines for lower-level players to make their mark.

And one player reportedly ran an even faster time at one on Saturday.

Of course, some are saying that it’s not official. Not because of the location but because the 4.19 was hand-timed.
Miller, who later in the day disproved the existence of the Easter Bunny, does have a point. But no matter how you spin in, it’s a scorching time by a player most of us had not heard of until now. And here’s the video proof it happened:
So who is this mystery man? Well, Wendall Williams was a Swiss Army Knife for the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) last season, catching 15 passes for 457 yards and eight scores; rushing seven times for 205 yards and three touchdowns; and returning 24 kickoffs for 777 yards and three touchdowns.
Dude! So on 46 touches, the 5-10, 175-pound Williams accounted for a whopping 1,439 yards (31.2 yards per touch) and 14 touchdowns. That’s amazing on any level of college football.
Will the former track star have a shot in the NFL? Be drafted? It’s hard to say with certainty, but you’d have to think this will earn him a private workout with some team and perhaps earn him a training-camp invite. All for a player who dropped out of two different schools and drove a truck to earn extra money before transferring to Herkimer Community College and making the dean’s list, and then going on to Cumberlands.
For a guy who moves to quickly, Williams sure has made a lot of stops along the way. Let’s hope that his next one is the NFL and that he sticks for a while. What a great story that would be.
