Devils’ Cory Schneider out at least 2 weeks with MCL sprain
The New Jersey Devils’ playoff hopes are fading, and their 6-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday didn’t help.

After that drubbing, head coach John Hynes revealed that goaltender Cory Schneider will miss at least the next two weeks with a Grade 1 MCL sprain in his right knee, which he injured against the Dallas Stars Friday night.
Schneider, who’s been having a great season with a .932 even strength save percentage, will be re-evaluated in two weeks meaning it’ll likely be the Keith Kinkaid show for the next little while.
The Devils have 15 games left in the season and currently sit six points out of an Eastern Conference Wild Card spot. Schneider’s injury, along with the trade of Lee Stempniak and their recent 2-8-0 run doesn’t inspire much confidence that they can claw out a playoff berth.
