Report: LSU extends Cameron, makes Orgeron recruiting coordinator – CBSSports.com
It appears that Cam Cameron will continue to run the LSU offense for a few more years.
According to a report from The Advocate, LSU will give its offensive coordinator a new three-year deal. Cameron’s contract was set to expire at the end of March. He’s spent the last three years at LSU, earning $1.5 million per season. It’s unclear if his new deal comes with a raise.
You do have to wonder if Cameron’s role will change slightly, however, as LSU recently hired Dameyune Craig away from Auburn. Craig’s official role with LSU is wide receivers coach, but he has plenty of history of working with quarterbacks, as he helped turn Christian Ponder, EJ Manuel and Jameis Winston into first round NFL draft picks while at Florida State.
Elsewhere on the LSU staff, we know for a fact that Ed Orgeron will have a bit more responsibility in 2016. The Advocate is also reporting that Orgeron will be LSU’s recruiting coordinator in addition to his current duties as defensive line coach. The new title will come with a contract extension and raise for Orgeron.
LSU has been without a recruiting coordinator since Frank Wilson left to take over at UTSA in January.
