PETA fumes about the fate of Yoenis Cespedes’ prized hog
sent the pig to the butcher, the animal rights organization PETA released a statement reprimanding Cespedes for that decision.

The New York Post has the entirety of that statement, which read:
“Yoenis Céspedes can afford $7,000 out of his own pocket, and this loving, loyal, and clever pig is paying the real price with his life. It’s a shame that Céspedes dropped the ball here and missed the opportunity to send this pig to a sanctuary, where he could have lived out his days in peace. We’re sending Céspedes some delicious vegan bacon in the hope that he’ll open his heart, not clog it with pig fat.”
Not all that unexpected, considering the circumstances.
While PETA can send all the vegan bacon it wants, but we’re guessing, given his history, Cespedes is probably not going to stop eating regular bacon any time soon. (Warning: link leads to video of a pig roasting over a spit.)
That should officially finish off this story. Cespedes bought a pig, he sent it to the butcher and PETA got mad. Where else could we possibly go from here? One thing we’ve learned this spring is that, with Cespedes, everything is on the table. In retrospect, maybe that’s a poor choice of words on our part.
