Eagles sign Sam Bradford to 2-year extension
The Philadelphia Eagles have settled on their quarterback of the future. Well, the near future at least. They have signed Sam Bradford to a two-year extension.
The team announced the move on its official Twitter feed:
A report of the financials on the deal came quickly, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter saying it is for $36 million, with $26 million guaranteed.

The Eagles acquired Bradford, the No. 1 overall pick in 2010, from the Los Angeles Rams last year, with the clubs swapping quarterbacks; the Rams got Nick Foles in exchange. Bradford started 14 games for Philadelphia last season, completing 65 percent of his passes for 3,725 yards, 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
An incredible note to this from FoxSports’ Alex Marvez: adding Bradford’s new deal to his six-year, $78 million rookie contract, he will have made $114 million in the NFL and to this point is just 25-37-1 as a starter, with no postseason appearances.
Bradford’s rookie deal was one of the contracts that led the NFL and NFL Players’ Association to agree to a rookie salary structure in the 2011 collective bargaining agreement. The 2015 No. 1 pick, Jameis Winston, received a four-year, $25.35 million deal.
