Dodgers pitcher Josh Ravin breaks forearm in car accident
Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Josh Ravin isn’t having a great spring. The 28-year-old is fighting for a roster spot, but had been held back early in camp due to the flu. Now, he’s going to miss even more time. Ravin broke his left forearm in a car accident Monday.

The club confirmed the news, though did not provide any details on the accident, according to Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times.
Instead of being disappointed and angry about the injury, Ravin seems to be handling things pretty well. Monday night, he tweeted “It can ALWAYS be worse. #blessed.” Once the news got out, he even thanked fans for supporting him through his “tough break.” He continued to show off his sense of humor, saying his arm looked like Harry Potter’s broken wand.
WARNING: The following link contains a Ravin’s tweet in which he posts a picture of his gross broken arm. If that’s not something you want to see, DO NOT click the link. Got it? Gross broken arm incoming. You’ve been warned. Here’s Ravin’s tweet.
The injury is fairly unusual in that it didn’t happen on the field, but it’s also not a silly story about tripping while carrying deer meat. A car accident isn’t something to joke about, though this one thankfully doesn’t appear to be all that serious.
Based on Ravin’s reaction, we’re going to assume that’s the case. And while it stinks for him to be out of action for a little while, at least he’s in good spirits.

And hey, if Ravin wants to take the wand analogy further, things bode well for him. Sure, Harry’s wand may have broke, but he eventually acquired the most powerful wand in the wizarding world. We’re not entirely sure how Ravin will come across the most powerful forearm in the game, we just want to give him a reason to be encouraged despite his “tough break.”
