NHL Three Stars: Perry tricks Kings; Talbot saves Oilers
No. 1 Star: Corey Perry, Anaheim Ducks
Perry recorded his ninth career hat trick and added an assist as the Ducks got by the Los Angeles Kings 4-2. Perry scored in all three periods, including twice on the power play and tallied his 26th of the year early in the third period to break a 2-2 deadlock. John Gibson made 27 saves and David Perron scored a goal, giving him 16 points in 18 games since coming to Anaheim.
No. 2 Star: Cam Talbot, Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers netminder made 36 saves, including 18 in the third period as Edmonton beat the New York Islanders 3-1. Anton Lander, Leon Draisaitl and Brandon Davidson scored 6:45 apart in the third period to lift home side.
No. 3 Star: Ryan Callahan, Tampa Bay Lightning
Callahan scored twice and assisted on another, and Alex Killorn and Steven Stamkos each scored a goal and added a helper as Tampa beat the Boston Bruins 4-1 for their sixth straight win. Ben Bishop stopped 32 shots. Stamkos’ tally came via a penalty shot, giving him a goal in six straight games.
Honorable Mention: Dennis Rasmussen’s fourth of the season stood as the game winner as the Chicago Blackhaws edged the Washingon Capitals 3-2. Patrick Kane notched his 36th and Jonathan Toews added his 22nd, while Corey Crawford made 28 saves. Rasmussen’s goal came via great pass from Richard Panik in the corner:
Jake Allen made 32 saves and the St. Louis Blues saw goals from five different players in a 5-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. The win snapped a three-game losing skid and gave St. Louis its fifth win in six road games … Erik Haula’s goal broke a 1-1 tie midway through the third period and Devan Dubnyk needed only 17 saves as the Minnesota Wild downed the Florida Panthers 3-1. Haula also assisted on Jason Pominville’s empty-netter late in the final period. The win snapped a nine-game losing streak for the Wild at Xcel Energy Center … A four-goal third period helped power the San Jose Sharks over the Vancouver Canucks 4-1. Joe Pavelski, Tomas Hertl, Patrick Marleau and Justin Braun all scored for the Sharks.
