Mats Zuccarello helps Rangers fan get prom date (Photo)
Mats Zuccarello’s charity helped a young fan get a date to the prom.
According to a story in the Daily News, before the New York Rangers’ Monday game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Zuccarello saw Vinny Mutone of Bohemia, N.Y. holding a sign saying “Zucc! If you give me your stick she’ll go to prom with me!!!”
Mutone was at the game with his girlfriend Catherine De Pinho, and tweeted this out to the Rangers beforehand.
The Daily News set the scene:
Zuccarello, the last Ranger off the ice, saw the sign, grabbed an extra stick from the bench, and directed a Garden security guard when he walked off the ice to hand the stick up the stands to the lucky fan.
After he got the stick, De Pinho (pictured above) accepted Mutone’s invitation. Mutone then posted a photo of him an De Pinho kissing. He also thanked the Rangers, and Zuccarello for making the date happen, saying it was the “greatest day of my life.”
That would be one of the funnier NHL-style prom proposals in recent memory, though this Blackhawks-inspired one was also pretty good. Last summer Zach Sill chauffeured two Nova Scotia teens to prom.
