Jets’ Todd Bowles reveals he had benign tumor removed last month
New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles broke some news about himself during his media conference at the NFL combine on Wednesday in Indianapolis.
The 52-year-old, who led the Jets to a 10-6 record in 2015, his first season as head coach, told reporters he underwent surgery shortly after the season ended to have a tumor removed from his neck.
The tumor was the size of a golf ball, and it was benign. Bowles found the mass in his throat early in the season, and doctors told him it wasn’t serious, so he was able to put off the removal procedure.
Since it was benign, Bowles said he does not need futher treatment. “I’m fine,” he said.
Reporters Bob Glauber of Newsday and Darryl Slater of NJ.com posted details from Bowles’ news conference on their respective Twitter feeds.
