Rich Clune explains Cody Bass pre-game altercation in hysterical interview (Video)
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Rich Clune had harsh words for Nashville Predators forward Cody Bass during an altercation before their game on Tuesday.
Clune skated to the center red line during warm ups and appeared to be in a heated conversation with Bass. Eventually Predators center Mike Fisher broke the two up. Bass was a healthy scratch for their game at the Air Canada Centre.
Clune played parts of three seasons with the Predators before being bought out in the offseason. He signed a minor league contract with Toronto.
During an intermission interview, Clune explained what was said. Here is the interview, with the transcript below.
“It’s just an ongoing battle with him. Every time we’ve fought he’s on the losing end and he’s wearing my number (16) in Nashville now so I just tell him I would rip that jersey off his chest if he’s playing, but he wasn’t playing.”
According to HockeyFights Bass and Clune fought each other twice during the 2014-15 AHL season when Clune was a member of the Milwaukee Admirals and Bass with the Rockford IceHogs.
Clune has three points in 16 games with the Maple Leafs this season. He had 17 in 30 games with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies.
