Watch Craig Smith deny Craig Smith OT winner vs. Habs (Video)
The Nashville Predators beat the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 after a shootout Monday night, but the game could have ended in overtime had it not been for Craig Smith’s stick.
Smith and Ribeiro took advantage of a P.K, Subban turnover and entered the Canadiens zone on a 2-on-1. Smith passed to Ribeiro, who then fed Smith the puck as he was right on the doorstep. As he one-timed his shot, his follow through ended up blocking it, costing the Predators an overtime winner.
Smith has a history with open nets that isn’t pretty…

Fortunately for Smith he had a shot at redemption. With neither team having scored in the shootout, and Montreal missing their chance in the third round, the Predators had a shot to win the game, and Smith buried his opportunity.

The win helped the Predators set a franchise record with points in eight straight road games. It’ll alsol help Smith get some sleep tonight.
