Donald Trump vs. the Cubs has become baseball’s newest rivalry
For many reasons, the Chicago Cubs rivalry with the St. Louis Cardinals has become one of the best in the game. The Cubs victory over the Cardinals in the playoffs last season may have signaled a changing of the guard in the National League Central, and the banter between the two sides after Jason Heyward left ensures things will remain interesting in 2016.

But as camps open, a new, unlikely challenger threatens to unseat the Cardinals as the Cubs biggest rival. No, it’s not the Pittsburgh Pirates or any other team in the division. In fact, it’s not even someone involved with baseball.
Yep, presidential hopeful Donald Trump has decided to take on Cubs ownership. We’re as shocked as you are, honestly.
Note that Trump misspelled Ricketts in his tweet. Is that just a regular typo, or Trump’s way of reminding the family that they are just haters and losers to him? With Trump, it could go either way.
We’re not really sure what to make of all this. People are free to donate their money to whichever political candidate they want, but Trump has never been the type to back down when he feels slighted. Obviously, Trump hints at some cryptic stuff above, but we’re not sure he’ll actually go through with his threat.
[Elsewhere: David Ortiz and new teammate David Price have buried the hatchet]
For now, we’ll just sit back and grab some popcorn. The Cubs first game against the Cardinals takes place April 18. Perhaps the two will re-ignite their conflict on that day but, until then, Trump vs. the Cubs promises to be the most entertaining rivalry in the game.
