Joonas Korpisalo allows another long-range goal (Video)
Maybe one day this off-season Joonas Korpisalo can have a chat with fellow Finn Vesa Toskala about shoving the nightmare of allowing a long-range goal out of his mind.
Please recall last month when P.K. Subban fired a shot from inside the neutral zone that beat the Columbus Blue Jackets netminder.
On Friday night, facing the Buffalo Sabres, it happened again, only this time from further out, giving David Legwand one of the luckiest goals of his career.
Legwand, while killing a Blue Jackets power play, launched a wrister from inside his own defensive zone and Korpisalo got caught by a late bounce to give the Sabres a 2-0 lead.
Korpisalo settled down after the Subban goal, keeping the Canadiens off the scoresheet en route to a 5-2 victory on “Cam Atkinson Wins A Kid A Puppy Night.” He didn’t fare so well this time around which featured his parents, sister and grandparents in attendance to watch him in the NHL for the first time.
Buffalo would win 4-0 and Korpisalo would get pulled midway through the third period.
