Odell Beckham’s cousin, fitness model and insane athlete, eyes NFL
The last name is familiar, and so is the athleticism. But Terron Beckham is trying to take a much different path to the NFL than his cousin, New York Giants star receiver Odell Beckham.
Terron Beckham hasn’t played football since high school. He’s 23 now. But you can’t help but notice his athletic ability.
Beckham has been working as a personal trainer, as well as an actor/stuntman and has been published as a fitness model according to his Twitter bio. He is chiseled at a reported 5-11, 230 pounds and moves as well as any NFL player.
“At his most recent mock pro day he recorded a 4.50 in the 40, 11-feet-six-inches broad jump, 46-inch vertical – which breaks the all-time combine record of 45 inches – and put up a whopping 42 reps on the 225 bench test,” TEST Sports Clubs CEO Kevin Dunn, who has done combine training for many NFL players, told Kristian Dyer of Giants Wire at USA Today. “I’ve never seen a display of athleticism like this in my 20-year career in this industry.”
Terron Beckham certainly passes any “looks the part” test for an NFL player.
The guy’s Instagram account is a series of “How did he do that?” physical feats. Like, say, doing box jumps with 315 pounds on his back.
Or throwing around 415 pounds like it’s nothing.
How about a vertical leap that would challenge the NFL scouting combine record?
So, again, yep, he looks the part.
Can he play? It’s not unprecedented for someone who has very little football experience to make the NFL. Antonio Gates didn’t play college football and he’s probably going to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Jarryd Hayne is a good recent example; Hayne was a rugby league star in Australia who made the San Francisco 49ers’ roster after the preseason.
Beckham, it appears, wants to be a running back according to CBS New York. And he does have a football background, albeit a few years ago and at the high school level. And, of course, he has pretty good football bloodlines.
If Terron Beckham can really post those workout numbers for NFL teams, it would be enough to at least get a longer look. There aren’t many guys in the league right now who can match his sheer physical ability.
