Texas A&M commit Alton Robinson arrested for robbery
Alton Robinson, a member of Texas A&M’s 2016 recruiting class, was arrested for robbery in San Antonio on Tuesday morning.
Robinson, a three-star recruit and the No. 27 weakside defensive end in the country per Rivals, was arrested at Judson High School. According to details of the arrest affidavit at KSAT.com, Robinson is accused of stealing his ex-girlfriend’s purse.
According to the woman, she was having an argument with Robinson on Feb. 8. She went to Wal-Mart at approximately 11 p.m. and when she got back, she saw Robinson hiding in the bushes at her house.
She told Robinson that they could talk inside the home, saying that she felt safe because other people were inside, according to the affidavit.
The ex-girlfriend told investigators that she was walking in front of Robinson toward the house when he grabbed her purse and ran away.
According to the affidavit, the ex-girlfriend said that she fell on the ground during a struggle with Robinson over the purse and injured her knee. She said she ran after Robinson, and he dropped the purse but took her cellphone.
She also said a “similiar incident” happened between the two in May of 2015.
According to Rivals, Robinson committed to Texas A&M in June of 2015. He signed with the Aggies on National Signing Day and was a member of a 21-member Texas A&M recruiting class that ranked No. 16 in the country. It’s unclear how the charges affect his status as a future member of the team. A team spokesperson told the Associated Press that A&M ”will gather all of the facts and make a decision at that time.”
