Former Tennessee OL arrested for sending pics to a minor
Former Tennessee offensive lineman Mack Crowder was arrested in Florida on Tuesday after he allegedly believed he was sending pictures of himself to a 14-year-old girl.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Crowder, who is listed with a Tennessee address, was arrested Tuesday on five charges. From the site, which identifies Crowder as a member of the Tennessee football team. Crowder was a senior in 2015.
Detectives have arrested University of Tennessee football player Mackenzie “Mack” Crowder after he sought out and engaged in an online sexual conversation with whom he thought was a 14-year-old female.
The arrest was made as part of the Sheriff’s Office “Operation Wayfarer.” This operation targets adult males that are seeking out underage females on the internet for the purpose of engaging them in sexual activity. (See release #16-020 for additional information.)
Crowder is charged with four counts of sending material harmful to a minor and a count of using a computer for a prohibited purpose.
The sheriff”s office said Crowder was arrested before 7 p.m. Tuesday. He allegedly began contacting the alleged 14-year-old on Jan. 21.
He then sent four pictures, per police, of “his sexual organ” according to authorities and asked who he believed to be the 14-year-old to engage in sexual acts with him.
Crowder is alleged to have made arrangements to meet the person he was communicating with Tuesday and was arrested at the meeting location. An investigation is ongoing, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff. Pinellas County is where Clearwater and St. Petersburg are located.
Crowder started 14 games over the 2014 and 2015 according to the Knoxville News Sentinel. He started 11 games at center in 2014 and three games at guard and center in 2015. A native of Bristol, Tennessee, Crowder was a three-star recruit in the class of 2011 according to Rivals.
