Kalamazoo Growlers will wear jerseys with fans’ top-25 emojis
The Kalamazoo Growlers created one of the most unique jerseys in baseball history two years ago by including hundreds of ‘selfies’ from fans on their uniforms for one day. Now the team is trying to top that award-winning idea with another why-didn’t-I-think-of-that concept.Â
The Growlers have given their fans until March 1 to vote online at growlersbaseball.com for the top 25 emojis they would like to see on the team’s uniforms for a game to be played Aug. 13 against the Rockford Rivets. They’re calling them ‘Emojerseys.’

Kalamazoo is one of 18 teams in the Northwoods League, which features college players 22 and under each summer. The Growlers are only 3 years old and replaced the Kalamazoo Kings. That team was disbanded in 2011.
There are 100 different emoji options to choose from on the team’s website, including the ‘angry face’ emoji, but there is no growling face emoji, which just doesn’t seem right considering the name of the team.
Are you a ‘winking face with tongue out’ fan? Maybe you’re more the ‘smirking face’ or ‘eye-rolling’ emoji type. The baseball emoji should make the cut automatically right?

One random voter will receive an Emojersey and tickets to five Kalamazoo games this season. Whoever keeps coming up with these ideas for the Growlers has to be working themselves into a great marketing gig down the road at some point.
