Iowa DB Omar Truitt arrested for drunk driving
Iowa defensive back Omar Truitt ran into some trouble over the weekend.
According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, Truitt, 19, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor drunken driving early Sunday morning. Police said Truitt was pulled over at about 12:40 a.m. on Sunday morning. The arresting officer smelled alcohol on Truitt and a breathalyzer subsequently showed a .091 blood alcohol content. Truitt was also subjected to two field sobriety tests, police said.
Truitt didn’t appear in a game in his two seasons with the Hawkeyes. He redshirted his first season with the program in 2014 and missed the 2015 season with an undisclosed injury.
According to the Gazette, the Iowa program is aware of Truitt’s arrest and is “in the process of gathering facts.”
Truitt was a three-star recruit in the 2014 class.
