Blessed by Teemu, Leipsic scores first NHL goal in front of family
When Teemu Selanne gives his blessing, good things happen.
Just ask Brendan Leipsic of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The rookie is the curly-haired toddler sitting with the future Hall of Famer in this picture tweeted out earlier today by Selanne.
Whatever magic the Finnish Flash imparted to the kid worked as Leipsic scored his first NHL goal in his first NHL game on Saturday night against the Vancouver Canucks. Best part is he scored the goal in front of his parents, who had a reaction that was a mix of joy, shock, and relief.
The goal put the Leafs up 3-1. They went on to win the game 5-2.
